Cruelty-free Colour Pop!

I caved.  I did.  I’ve been seeing this brand splashed across Instagram for months now and I finally went for it.  Colour Pop.  These people do not disappoint.

Did you ever read that Winne-the-Pooh story wherein Eeyore  spends his birthday happily putting presents in and taking presents out of an empty honey pot he got for his b’day?   I love that Pooh story, Eeyore was always my favorite.  And that’s the image of me adding and subtracting things from my Colour Pop cart.  It’s dangerous when all this gorgeousness is under $10 a piece!

But, I finally whittled down to the essentials 😉

5 lippies, 3 blushes,  and 5 eyeshadows.

The Lippie Stix.  As you can see, the burgundy and dark reds are irresistible (to me at any rate).   And, I found, not one, but two lovely pinks!

Trying to do on-lip swatches of lip products is a bit of an ordeal, but I really didn’t have to struggle at all with any of these shades because they’re all so pigmented.  Even  if I had a little residual redness from vigorous swiping off, it didn’t show through!  The shape of the bullet is perfect for getting a nice even line around the border of the mouth.  My only reservation, if you want to call it that, is that these lippies are slightly scented.  It’s a nice scent, but I’m not into scented lip products as I can’t abide anything that might interfere with my eating and drinking!  Happily, the scent wears away once they’re on the lips, and there is no flavor at all 🙂

The blushes.  A.k.a Super Shock Cheek. I’m honestly at a loss to describe the texture of these blushes.  They’re creamy and velvety and buttery and fabulous.  Some kind of mousse/powder hybrid.  Like maybe if baby powder and whipped cream started a family.

The eyeshadows.  A.k.a Super Shock Shadows.  Man alive.  Same texture as the blushes and some of the most gorgeous colors I’ve ever swatched.  My only teeny gripe was that some of the pots were incredibly difficult to open.  I mean, I get it.  It’s probably to keep the product from drying out.  But, geez.  Gave new meaning to the word child-proofed.  However, I persevered and am I glad I did!

I discovered this stunning quad, part of the Megan Naik collection.  I mean…

Actually, I believe one of the lippies I bought, Dahlia, is also from this collection.  You go, Megan Naik!

I also could not resist this fabulous purpley/gray taupe shade.  It’s one of my staple shades and this one is completely lovely.  Plus, it’s called Bill.  That’s my Dad’s name.  And my Grandpa’s, too.

To sum up, Colour Pop, I’m sold.

      1. I didn’t look at their website cos the shipping price is expensive. =( I always look at my local online beauty shop. It’s okay, I’ll just wait patiently for them to stock up their goodies! =)
