Cruelty-free skin care: Lush First-Timer!

It seems kind of crazy, but just this past week was my first ever visit into a Lush store.  I’ve long been interested in their face masks, lotions, and other potions, but I could never quite get past the overpowering scent of all those bath bombs.

But, I finally decided to brave it, and I’m glad that I did!

My first priority was trying a face mask.  I was most interested in Chocolate Cupcake, need I say why, but the very helpful sales person steered me toward this BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask, which she said would be better for my very-sensitive-at-the-moment skin.  It has a light scent and feels very refreshing upon application as you need to keep it in the fridge.  It felt rather prickly-tingly when it was first applied, and it dries down slightly tight, sort of like a clay mask.  I had a bit of redness, but nothing too dramatic, after I rinsed it off and, following it up with a good moisturizer, felt very well-cleansed.

Next up, my check-out display impulse purchase.  A Charity Pot.  Once they told me at least a portion of the proceeds from this go to animal charities, I was a goner.  Being honest, I don’t love the scent, but I’m not sure which of the ingredients is the culprit.  That said, in partnership with my next and final purchase, this slightly sticky formula has contributed to the almost overnight disappearance of a very stubborn dry spot I’ve had on my hand for weeks.

My final, and definite favorite, purchase was the Helping Hands Hand Lotion.  The light chamomile scent is perfect for my bedtime routince, and the creamy formula has cleared up any trace of dryness on my excessively over-washed hands. It’s a new night stand staple, for sure, and will definitely be on my repurchase list!

Let me know if you have any Lush faves I need to try!
