So, the fabulous Christy over at Glam Necessities has tagged me for the lipstick tag at a rather auspicious moment.  I’ve been planning a Gerard Cosmetics review, made up entirely of lip products, and this was the perfect opportunity to feature them!  Plus, I’ve been participating on Instagram in the #LipstickLeague May Photo-a-Day Challenge and, serendipitously, some of the shots I’ve taken for that are perfectly suited to the questions in this tag.

So, here are the Lipstick Tag rules:

1. Tag 3 bloggers to answer the same questions

2. Those bloggers will tag 3 more bloggers with the same questions & rules

3. No tag backs

The Questions

1. How many lipsticks do you own?

Um.  Can I plead the 5th?

2. What was your first ever lipstick?

I loved these!  The chocolate was my favorite, more for the color than the flavor. Apparently, even in preschool I was all about the bold lip 💋😉.

3. What is your most worn lipstick?

I think I’ll have to go with Milani’s Plum Rose.  It’s not the color I wear most frequently, but it’s the only color of it’s kind that I have, so when I want to wear that color, it’s the go-to!

4. What is you favorite brand of lipsticks?

An objective count of how many I own per brand would suggest Milani, and I’d have to concur.

5. What is your favorite finish?

I love both glossy and matte, but what I wear most frequently would probably be best described as a natural finish.

6. What is the last lipstick you bought?

Colour Pop Lippie Stix!  Check out my Colour Pop Extravaganza for all the awesomeness.

7. How many lip products do you have in your bag?

Pulled this stash out for a recent Instagram posting.  I throw the lipstick I’m wearing into my bag and then it lives there ’til weeks later when I’m frantically searching for all my seemingly lost lip products.

8. What lipsticks do you use to rock a red lip?

Another shot originally taken for Instagram.  One I rocked recently was Milani’s Matte Confident.  It’s gorgeous.  That is all.

9. How do you store your lipsticks?

I have a rolling makeup cart with lots of drawers in it and one whole drawer is devoted to lipsticks, with lip glosses and lip pencils in another drawer.  I need a better way to store them though, like some kind of rack maybe so I don’t have to paw through them all when searching for a particular color.

10. What lip products are you currently lusting over?

It’s a tie for the Colour Pop Lippie Stix I recently acquired (see above for the link 😉) and…. my new Gerard Cosmetics Lipsticks and Lip Glosses!

I’ve recently availed myself of two excellent sales Gerard has had so as to try out these lip products everyone is raving about on Instagram.

Starting with the lipsticks.  If you’ve been reading my blog with any regularity (thanks, if you have 🎉!), you may have noticed that I tend to vary among 3 different colors for lips.  Burgundy, nude pink, and mauve pink.  So, it’s likely no surprise that when I had the opportunity to purchase a trio of Gerard lipsticks, those were the 3 shades I chose.

The formula is smooth and creamy and I think 1995 is likely to become a go to MLBB color for me.

Not long after this purchase, Gerard had a Cinco de Mayo sale on their Color Your Smile Lighted Lip Glosses.  Now, frankly, while I really like the look of a nice glossy gloss, it’s not a finish I sport very frequently because I don’t care for the stickiness.  Peeling my hair off my lips all day, only to have the stuff get all gloopy in the corners of my mouth as it wears off.  Not cute.  But… I was swayed by all the raves I was reading.

I don’t know how they’ve managed it, but these glosses have gorgeous shine sans stickiness.  They apply with a doe-foot applicator, which I personally prefer over a brush.  The only thing I don’t care for is that there’s a little, yet bright, light inside the wand.  Considering their name, I probably should have predicted this.  I’m sure it’s meant to be a bonus feature, but I don’t tend to need to apply lipstick in the dark and, for me, it actually makes it more difficult to see what I’m doing.

But… it’s worth the effort.

So far, I’ve worn Plum Crazy, Jewel, and Seduction while out for the day and they stay glossy literally for hours, even through a drink or two.  When they do start to wear, they do so very evenly and leave a lovely stain behind.

Alright, I think that’s more than enough about my mouth for one blog post.

I’m going to be a bit of a rules rebel for this tag, and rather than tagging anyone in particular, if you’re reading this post and feel like blogging it, consider yourself lipstick tagged 💄!
