Cruelty-free color challenge- Bonus day! Myrtle Green

So, I just couldn’t resist throwing in this last color, as I’ve loved it since my days of watching The Jetsons (in reruns, mind you).  What the heck does this color have to do with The Jetsons, you ask?  Well… I very clearly remember an episode in which Jane goes to one of her favorite boutiques and buys this dress that’s sort of a teal-/jade-esque color, which, apparently, is myrtle green.

Then, as she’s getting ready to model, for who turns out to be a very unappreciative George, she sprays on some green lipstick.  Now, they threw a laugh track in at this moment, but to me it wasn’t so much funny as fabulous! And how much do I want that lipstick stencil mask?

Sadly, I don’t own any green lipsticks at the moment, but I do have a stunning myrtle green eye shadow, the Makeup Geek foiled shadow in Houdini.  So, I swiped that all over the lid and a bit into the crease, then added the Muggie shadows in Purely Naked, as a transition color, and Shimma Shimma, to lighten up the inner corner.

I wanted something really glowy with a touch of pink for the highlight, so I topped it all off with the more frosted highlight (bottom right) in the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette.  I also thought this look needed a bit of an anchor in the way of a super black liner and good thick mascara.  Then, to keep the focus on the darkness of the green, rather than elsewhere, I used a pale shade to line the lower inner rim.

In lieu of Jane J’s gorgeous green lip, I went with Wet n’ Wild Fergie Daily.

Happy Monday to all… and if anyone knows where I can find a good green lipstick, let me know 😉

  1. Yay! So glad you decided to do one more of these 😛 That green is so lovely, I would love having it in a lipstick too! I think NYX has a range of lipsticks called ‘Wicked’ that might have something similar. Not sure if they’re 100% cruelty free, but I guess it’s a good starting point! Great post 🙂

    1. Thank you, Daisy! And thank you for the rec’d. My understanding is that NYX maintained its cruelty-free status, but is now owned by a parent company, L’oreal, that does conducting animal tests. For that reason, I personally don’t purchase their products anymore, but many still do and I totally respect that choice 🙂

      1. Ahhh, that’s good to know! It’s a shame that some good cruelty free companies can get bought out like that 😦 Oh well, I wish you luck finding your green lipstick!

  2. Makeup revolution has a green lipstick in their atomic lipstick range called serpent. Cruelty-free and I think it is actually the colour your are looking for here. I’ve never tried it myself but the swatches look very pretty.
