Hi all, I wanted to post a quick bonus post since I skipped last week due to a frenzy of activity. I’ve been into the notion of FOTDs lately, using as many products as I can from a single brand, so… we may have the beginning of a series here!
Today’s FOTD was inspired by several products from Vapour Organic Beauty, a natural and, obviously, cruelty-free brand. The products I used for this look are all very neutral/natural and apply quickly and easily so this is an ideal running-late-for-work look… not that that every happens to me personally, you understand 😉
I always start with my eyes, even if I’m going with a cream eyeshadow product, ’cause you just never know what sort of clean-up you’ll need to do. For this look, I used the Mesmerize Eye Color in Nightfall, which is sort of a taupey-browny-gray color. It went on smoothly and was easy to blend out. Definitely a good choice if you’re looking for seriously subtle shading. I felt like it needed a little boost so I lined my waterline/tight line with black pencil and put on some lengthening mascara.
For my base, I decided to try the Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation in shade 110. When I first pumped the product out onto the back of my hand, I was afraid it was too warm/dark, but applied on the face, it turned out to be a quite nice match with my fair-light neutral(ish) skin tone. I LUV this base! It’s beautifully luminous (so beware if you’re looking for a matte finish) and I felt like the coverage was sufficient that I didn’t need concealer. Now, that’s not because it provides completely full, opaque, coverage, but it provided the level of coverage I tend to prefer. There is a scent that stays with you for a little while after you apply it; I like it myself, it’s sort of herb-y, like the Lavera Natural Liquid Foundations if you’ve ever used those.
Then, for the lips, I went with the Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss in Metro, which is a lovely mauvey (unscented, nonsticky!) MLBB gloss. To increase the staying power and define the ol’ lip line, I lined my lips with my Ben Nye lip pencil in Berry Brown and then built up the gloss on top.
All in all, I’d say the stand out product for me was the foundation. I do have oily skin, but I still like a luminous glow. If you prefer a more satin finish, I think a light dusting of a finely-milled face powder would take away that extra bit of shine. It would also increase the lasting power, which wasn’t stellar on any of these products… but, they don’t claim to be long-lasting and I’d just as soon not have a bunch of preservatives on my face. I bought my items on BeautyKind, with an awesome coupon I found on My Beauty Bunny. I was psyched to find BeautyKind as I was able to choose a (dog) charity to which some of the proceeds of my purchase were donated! You can also find Vapour Beauty at Safe & Chic or purchase from the brand’s own website, which I recently noticed offers sample kits!
