Last week here on beautyforgood.net we explored a couple of the 2016 trends for eye looks, blue eye shadow and glitter. Love them both. This week, we’ll be expanding our beauty horizons to focus our attention farther south.
In 2015 we added “strobing” to our beauty vocabulary. All reports suggest that strobing should be listed in your beauty thesaurus under highlighting, the strategic placement of light to the high points of the face. For 2016, it appears that an all-over glow is the way to go. Luckily, there are some ways to achieve this effect without having a dab hand with the highlighter brush.
There are some lovely base products that give a luminous finish, oftentimes in the BB and CC cream family. One of the nice things about these sorts of products is that they let your skin show through so you don’t look too makeup-y.
If you’re already happy with your base or like a bit more coverage, you can always go the route of using a luminizing primer underneath your favorite products. I like to use ones that are more serum-y or gel-like.
Personally, I have to use a very light hand with these kinds of primers as my skin is oily and my pores are prone to clogging. So, another alternative is to use a setting spray that adds a bit of illumination as a finishing touch. That way, you get the glow, but you also get the added advantage of makeup that lasts a bit longer than it might otherwise.
Now for the lips! I am pleased to report that the dark, vampy lip does not seem to be going anywhere. But, another trend that seems to be coming our way this year is for a slightly brighter lip look. The cherry/apple red lip.
There are tons of cruelty-free options for rocking the red lip! From the glossy / balmy…

… to the full on glam…

… and everything in between.

I hope these posts have been useful and given you some ideas for the new year. Happy 2016, everyone!

Yes. Glad the glow is in. Plus I love a red lip. If only I could find the right shade. Thanks for another great post. Xxoo
