Juvia’s Place The Nude Mauves

As you may recall, I have a bit of a crush on mauve. Besides which, ever since Colour Pop discontinued Boys Town, I’ve been pretty much bereft since it was my all time favorite nude. Dusky, cool, and just the right amount of pink! Alas, I’ve searched high and low for a dupe, but to no avail. Whenever I see a nude mauve come along, I know I’m going to have to investigate further…

So, as soon as I saw that Juvia’s Place had come out with a nude mauve collection, I knew I’d be ordering them. They’ve just arrived today and I dropped everything to get these photos posted ASAP!

I don’t usually care much one way or the other for packaging, but these are especially pretty. Lovely art on the boxes and the tubes are like a little bouquet of fuchsia flowers.

The bullets are also quite lovely. They have a slightly art deco, editorial edge to them, and the cut actually does feel like it contributes to ease of application. They have a sort of felt-like appearance on the outer surface, and even though they’re matte, they glide on as easily and smoothly as any creme formula I’ve tried. They’re also light-weight, non-sticky and, though they have a light vanilla scent, they happily have no discernible flavor šŸ™‚

Now for the best part, lip swatches! I’ve decided to post them in order of my most to least favorite. These rankings are purely a matter of personal preference for how the color looks on my pale, neutral with lots of redness, skin tone. They all have the same formula. My descriptions of the shades are also very much a product of how they look on me, things tend to pull a lot more orange on me than on the average bear, unless they’re very cool toned.

  • 1. Kebi– this is a lovely dark mauvey brown, quite reminiscent of the 90s browns I grew up loving and wearing the heck out of. This takes the #1 spot because I think of them all I’m likely to wear this one most frequently. I actually find darker shades easier to wear than nudes.

  • 2. Chic– this is a nice cooler-toned pinky nude on me, not a dupe for my precious (and yes, that is the reference you’re thinking it is) Boys Town, but certainly the closest to it in this collection.

  • 3. A Mauve Moment– this is darker, but still somewhat cooler toned pinky mauve. Very pretty, just not a favorite on me.

  • 4. #2020– this my least favorite, again just a personal color/tone preference. From the packaging, you’d think this one was lighter than Chic, but I don’t find that to be the case. It also pulls kind of corally pink on me, which I don’t really care for.

Hope this has been helpful! If you know of a dupe for Boys Town, PLEASE let me know!!
