It took me a while to figure out what all these #tbt and #fbf shenanigans were about… suffice it to say, my mom had to explain it to me. But, now that I get it, I’m all for it. I thought I’d do a little twist this Friday on the ol’ #fbf and flash back to some previous posts for some follow-ups. Here goes.
One of my fave posts to put together so far was my first in the Can beauties over 30 series, wherein I pondered the notion of whether we over 30s can sport sparkles. If you haven’t guessed how I answered that one (or even if you have), check out our first #fbfsparkles.
As a follow-up, I thought I’d post an option that I hadn’t included in the original post. Using sparkles for a day-to-night transition. Handily, I recently purchased a new Too Faced glitter on Hautelook, so I was well-prepared. For the day look, I went with something neutral but pretty from my trusty Pur Minerals Soul Mattes palette, recently featured in my fave matte palette picks, and topped it off with some Trish McEvoy Intense Gel Eyeliner in Black.
To transition into night, I just deepened up the crease and did a little outer V with a couple of the darker shades from the palette, dabbed on a bit of Too Faced Glitter Glue, and then packed on my new Too Faced Glamour Dust in Pink Fire. Yay for sparkles!
For my next #fbf, I’d like to flash back to my cruelty-free plea post, wherein I lamented the loss to animal testing of some of my favorite products, including the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed. The fabulous Phyrra from phyrra.net, a wonderful cruelty-free blog, confirmed my suspicion that the new Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting Blush in Baby Love might just be a good substitute! So, off I went to Ulta! Both products come in plastic cases with a mirror on the inside of the top of the case.

I swatched the products in direct sunlight and then again inside with a flash.

I think these are quite similar, but there are some subtle differences that may keep them from being complete dupes. To my eye, the Tarte blush is matte and slightly peachier under fluorescent light, whereas the Too Faced has a subtle golden sheen (with a gold sparkle in direct sunlight), and is slightly pinker under fluorescent light.
I’d been wondering whether the Too Faced might also be a good addition to my mauvey sculpting blushes, but I think it’s a bit too warm. Can’t wait to wear it either way!
My final #fbf flashes back to my post about the new Pur Minerals Love your Selfie Palette. I mentioned I’d been dying to try the shade Filter, as I was betting it would make a great 1 shadow wonder. I was right! It’s a great all over color, managing to deepen up in the crease and catch the light on the lid.

I’d also been hoping it would be a dupe for Urban Decay’s YDK, another shadow I have loved and lost.

But, Filter turns out to be warmer and pinker, whereas in comparison YDK is more neutral taupey. Oh well (sniff sniff).

Alright, that’s it for my very first #fbf. Happy Friday to all 🐶😍🐰
