Ok, so, today’s post is not for the faint of heart, blush-wise. Apparently this trend has been making the rounds of the beauty world, it’s even been featured on the Huffington Post! I first learned about it a while back from Marlena of Makeup Geek, and it’s known as the hologram blush effect.
Coincidentally, right around the time I saw Marlena’s video, I spotted this little gem on the City Color Cosmetics website, the Beach Beauty Bronzer in Sunrise.
I immediately thought this would be the perfect one-step product to achieve the hologram blush effect, and figured I share the results of my little experiment with you!
I’d definitely say if the goal is glow, we’ve both met and exceeded expectations with this one! I also really like the color, a kind of nice cool, dusky pink. Two things to consider, though.
1) For those of us who tend toward having rather large pores, this baby accentuates them and then some. So, I think I’ll be saving this technique for nights out when the light will be nice and dim (and flattering)!
2) It didn’t quite end up being a one-product look. It seemed strange to not have my cheek bone be a bit more highlighted than the rest of my cheek, so I added in a pop of ColourPop highlight in Spoon.

If you’ve tried (or plan to try) this technique, let me know what you think!

That’s beautiful. 😍
